Really Annoying...

So I logged on to my DeviantART account today and saw I had a comment on one of my drawings. This person left a comment saying that my art was stolen, and posted on a Tumblr blog that only posts "bad art". I've seen these kinds of blogs before, and all they do is post stolen artwork and add their stupid little comments on why the piece is bad. No, not critiquing the art, just bashing it. I, of course, was disappointed at first, but I shrugged it off after a while. So I kindly asked the owner of the blog to remove my drawing. I don't know if they did, but whatever... *sigh*

What I'm trying to say is: Why do people do this? I'm sorry, but I don't have the money to spend on expensive art supplies and art programs. Not everyone is rich! Seriously, no one deserves that kind of disrespect. As someone who really wants to pursue an art career, I'm tired of people like this. It's frustrating because I feel like I've improved compared to earlier years. If you'd like to actually give me helpful advice, good. But don't steal my art and tell me it's bad. Critique and bashing are two completely different things.

God, the people these days... :shiftyeyes_anim:

I'm sorry that happened to you! I have an account on DeviantArt, but don't really publish art. I just use it to support my friends and follow artists I like - generally, I haven't experienced anything quite that bad. But people are trolls, everyone has come to this realization, no matter how depressing the reality is. Social Media is the perfect platform to release pent up anger, emotions and, well, just jerkiness - without the ramifications or consequences the real world would have dealt them back. It's pretty sad, really. I know you feel angry at them, but I can't help feel sorry for them. Obviously these people have problems - why else would you push others down to make yourself feel better? That's just wrong.

Hope it doesn't happen again! :)

I'm so sorry that this happened to you. I'm also trying to pursue an art career with my painting. I don't post on any art forum or blog or really any internet outlet. Although I am working on a website because...you know, publicity and all. I only post pictures of my art to my facebook (and a little on my neo page). I don't like the negativity I see online regarding art, even on neo. It's so easy to bash other's work when you don't see their face. There's a difference between a critique and disrespect, and what happened to you was straight up disrespect. In fact, they're bullying you and that's just one thing I can't stand.

Can you report their blog or whatever it is that they used our work on? I sure would.

Just remember that there's no such thing as bad art. Don't let this person get you down :)

I'm sorry, that stinks! I personally think that all art is beautiful no matter if you're a beginner or a professional. Some people are just rude and it makes them feel bigger to put others down. Don't let it get to you, be proud of your work and good luck in pursuing your art career.

I kind of want to play devils advocate and say that "not everyone will like your stuff" because yeah, art is only art if someone thinks or says it is art. Galleries only hang art on their walls if the gallery owner thinks it's worth something but what is art to one person may not be art to another, yada yada.

There's always going to be haters but if this is a website built towards maliciously debasing art and the artists then definitely report it to tumblr that they took your art and posted it without your permission, you've contact them and they haven't taken it down and that if Tumblr doesn't take the tumblr down or remove your art you'll have your lawyers draw up a C&D order and send them the bill. They'll remove it.

A lot of the people here have already stated what I had in mind. But just to reiterate a few key points: Never let ANYONE bring you down. You have a passion and you enjoy doing it, so just do it. like what sara_01 stated, "art is only art if someone thinks or says it is art." People's opinions differ, and not everyone has the eye for judging this kind of things. And even if they do, they are entitled to their own opinions. Don't let other people's opinions or judgement get you down. Wheter or not they like you art or not is up to them. The important thing is you did what you love to do and you are satisfied with the results of your work. Never let anyone take that away from you. quoting Shelly, "There's a difference between a critique and disrespect..." While I strongly believe what happened to you is blatant disprespect, to the person who ridiculed your art it might be their way of criticizing. But like I said, don't let anyone's opinions affect you. Consider those geniune critisims as they will help you grow, but for the case of haters and bashers, don't even spare a blink; especially since they don't offer any reasoning behind their critique/judgement. So continue pursuing your passions and continue to strive to get even better. haters and bashers - you'll always have them. Who cares about what they think? they don't even know you so just ignore them. and hey just becasue it's on a "bad art" post doesn't necessarily mean people will see it that way. What the other person did is simply advertised you work. It's up to the viewers to make their judgement:)

Whoa this is legit legal stuff! :D but yep it is the most effective way to get it removed. hahaha :P

That's just rude. Don't let stuff like that ruin art for you. I've had hobbies ruined for me, but I remind myself that all because I'm not the best of the best doesn't mean that I have to quit playing video games (the hobby I'm reffering to in this post)

Always do what you love.
