I received a Pirate Draik Egg from the forgotten shore. This is one of my dream pets so it is super exciting!

However, I do not have a name for him/her. I don't want to hatch it until Neopets is completely done with transitioning and so I have until then to pick an awesome name. I have been searching Untaken name pet pages and have yet to find one I really like.

Conditions:

1. I would like for it to be a Non-gender specific name.

2. I would Like it to either start with P or L.

3. No spaces or underscores or numbers

4. No longer than 8 letters.

5. No shorter than 4 letters.

6. Could either be piratey or sound piratey. or none of that.

7. I will give you credit on his/her pet page if I choose the name you give me, plus when I create a page of all my pets, you will also receive credit on there.

Thanks!

I could think of a few for ya ^__^ Although I'm not sure if it would suit your tastes/requirements.

Linarys, Larunal, Lysrami, Pranika, Poranli, Pruflas.

Any other name I would come up would be a variation of those, rearranging/replacing letters.

No clue what are taken, but you could do some sort of combination of the words pirate and/or flying and/or lizard.

I.E flyrate, lizrate, plyard, flizard, ....

Also misspellings of these like doubling letters , ... i.e. lizzaarrd

NICE FIND!! :D Naming pets is always so hard. I usually look up lists on the internet of say "words for dragon" in other languages or mythology. That's how I named my Draik, Thrakos. And for my desert hissi I looked up a list of Egyptian gods and goddesses and found Harahkte. Of course it took quite a bit of trial and error to find something not already taken lol.

Might I suggest this list of fictional pirates? Maybe you can try some obscure names on the list like Karraje or Garrigan

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fictional_pirates

If there's a name I really like sometimes I'll change a letter, like and "i" to a "y" or something

A draik owner myself, I was in the same spot you are in right now. As you can see on my Neopets userpage, I named my Faerie Draik Nayarra.

I think that you are unsure about what you want in the first place (you know neither what gender nor what color you want your draik), so you should first ask yourself what color and personality you want your Draik to have. In my case, deciding to make my draik Faerie helped me to eliminate most possible name candidates. From there, I chose what I thought was the best-sounding name. As so many Neopets with good names exist, you may never find a name you love, but you can certainly discover the name you think is best for your pet.

"Bloath" is an interesting name which rolls off the tongue nicely!

hey^^

First-off, congratulations on winning a Draik Egg.

Secondly, just some friendly advice, just think twice before you name it anything piratey. Remember, you can repaint it, but you can never rename it.

Maybe you want to choose a word that's important to you, or a concept, and then translate it into an obscure (read: less people speak it) language.

My Draik has an Aborigine name, for instance.

You also might want to ask people to PM you the names, just in case someone sees it on the board and quickly creates another pet with that name :)

Anywho, good luck with the name-choosing^^

I always play with word sounds when I create pets. So for example if I like the way "Plethora" sounds I might go "Plithra" or "Plathora" and it usually branches out from there and doesn't typically ever end up being what I start with, as in when I was saying "Plethora" in my head I began thinking "Thorora sounds nice. Tharora, Thaurora, ect." I get that those are pretty fem sounding so you could try changing it to O like Plethoro, which might make it seem manly. After that I would add an N or an S at the end. Plethoros or Plethoron. Like I said play around with the word sounds and it'll probably come pretty easy.

Lihightre, Leightro, Lughnoso, Leaoran... ect.

I did it with Sakeh. I played around with how to spell the Japanese drink and suprizingly it wasn't too hard to find a spelling that wasn't taken.

I did this with Ceridwynnn. :) I had to work really hard to find something I was happy with that wasn't taken because I was dead set on the name and the customization.

Regarding the P letter, I was thinking about "Parley" (for some reason it sounds very piratey to me), and after a quick search I came up with the variation "Piarrley"...

But I think you should take roseinbatwings advice to heart... in the future you might paint your pet, and then a pirate name might not suit him/her well...

:offtopic: Probably because they used it in POTC. Parley is a discussion, often between enemies, to sort out terms to come to an agreement or truce :). It's derived from the French word "parler", which means "to speak".

I actually think Parley would be a fancy pirate name.

- Or you could use Picaroon, which is nothing more than a synonym for pirate. It doesn't sound to nice, but you could easily drop or swap a few letters; Pycaroon, Picuhrun, Pycaru... It's always amusing when you have a tale to tell with a name :D.

- Another word related to pirates is "pauperism", this also looks like a fun one to play with. Pauperius, Pauparrlian (see what I did there?)

- More synonyms coming your way; "pillager", meaning robber or thief, which lots of pirates were/are. You could go with Pillago, Pillufer, Pillaguhr

- Moving on to the L now. First: Land-ho, when pirates have spotted land. Landho, Lendhoh, Landhouh

- Pirates often scored a booty, or a loot; Loothrus, Loutey, Lootar, Loofrey,...

- A true buccaneer was always lawless: Lahliss, Lawlus, Lawhless

Well, they're not great names, but I hope you can work with the ideas. Congrats on your find btw ^_^
