Battledome glitches workaround

Recommended Posts

Found a way to more-or-less work around the current battledome glitches (in particular, the error-while-sending-move glitch) to keep from having to spend 10-20 minutes on a two-round 1P fight and to keep from having to go blind in with no idea how your pet or your opponent is faring.

1. Start the battle between your pet and your opponent.

2. Go and open "challenges" in a new tab or window. (http://www.neopets.com/dome/status.phtml, can be found in the upper battle-dome bar between "stats" and "abilities") Your current fight should show up here.

3. Send first move as you always would.

4. Refresh the Challenges tab. It will now show you your pet's HP and your opponent's HP after this move. (If both still show up as full HP, refresh another time. It occasionally lags behind for a few seconds)

5. Send next move. If you can't, remove-and-apply an item to be able to send a new move again. If you have to do this, or want to use a different combination of items/ability, keep in mind that removing-and-applying an item to one of the items slots tends to trigger the animation from the previous move into finally happening about half of the time. If so, make sure after the animation has finished or been skipped that you DO have the correct items applied, because it usually relapses to the items/ability set from that move or occasionally leaves the changed slot blank.)

6. Refresh Challenges tab again.

7. Continue until battle is over. You do NOT have to wait for the final (Won/draw/lost) screen to pop up. Moment the Challenges tab says you're not in any challenges, the result of the battle has been registered and the winnings (if you've won the battle and are not at daily limit yet) will be on your account.

It's still slightly slower than it would be if the BD was working as it should, but only by as long as it takes for the challenges tab to refresh, which depends mostly on how bad neopets is lagging at that moment.

I find that just waiting long enough works fairly well for me. If I wait long enough (a minute or two), the animation will start, the move will be sent and I can see the results. But this is a very interesting idea!

True, waiting works, though it can be anywhere from 10 seconds to 6m30s for me to start. Well, 6m34s at the least. Timed a few of them before searching for workarounds, that's by far my longest. 'course, that was during one of the recent lag-spikes...

In any case, this method has so far worked well enough for me that despite the constant glitches 1P BDing no longer feels quite as much like a chore.

Combat log doing nothing for me either. Suppose that it's tied into the other glitch, since both deal with the receiving/sending of moves in some way.

(Sometimes moves immediately register for me as well--even though it still gives me said glitch/error message--but not particularly often. I believe ten times total when I was dealing with Punchbag Bob, so... yeah. Says enough, methinks)

Sorry, so are you telling me that you can unequip and re-equip a pet mid-battle? I thought I was stuck with whatever I'd taken into the battle with me. Occasionally I've chosen my weapons really badly and wished I could change them part way through and have ended up being defeated. Have I been getting defeated needlessly?

Like someone else said waiting usually fixes the problem for me, sometimes I don't have to wait at all. One thing that does really annoy me though is that the combat log is not working. Is it like that for everyone?

The combat log only works for me on rounds of the battle that aren't the final round. So if the battle takes two rounds, I only see what happened the first round and then have no idea what combination of events led to either my victory or my defeat. I admit that I like it when a battle takes multiple rounds, even if the thrill of delivering almost a TKO is lost, because I get to see what happened and since I'm still learning, that's very useful for me.

EDIT: I didn't even finish making my original point. Which was that, because I never played in the Battledome prior to the server move, I didn't know that the combat log not showing the last round was even a glitch, until it was mentioned on here. *shakes head*

No, not un-equip/equip the items on your pet, but rather, the items you're using during a round. Y'know, like how one round you may use a healer and a weapon, another round you may use two weapons, or a weapon and a shield, etc.

For me, combat log does nothing even on rounds that aren't final.

I always get the error, whatever the red writing says so I just deselect my weapon the click Fight then the round goes through

I only do the medium difficulty Jetsam Ace for the nerks, using MaraquanMorris with Lens Flare and either SoK or SoUlt and it's a 1-hit TKO ;)

OH! But I generally change what I'm using between rounds anyway, because I'm curious to see how they all work and how my opponent deals with them. Considering the combat log glitch, if I think it's going to be the final round, I just usually end up watching the animation, seeing how many hit points fly away from my opponent and then wonder about what exact combination of things just happened to produce that result. Not very conducive to my learning but better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, as my dad says.

What works for me is clicking on the abilities box, reselecting the ability I chose, and hitting "fight" again. After 2-4 times of doing that, it accepts the moves.

I use this method too. I find it works about 99% of the time in one-click battles (when it only takes one round to bring your opponent to 0). I've had it work in battles that require more than one round, but it sometimes takes more than one try. For me, this method is usually faster than waiting.

I'm so happy I'm not alone, I thought it was something on my end messing it up.

If I'm feeling patient, then I just send the 1st move, minimize, do something else, then it's overcome the error and it's ready for the next move. re-selecting and re-sending has made me loose a few battles. Either way, it's horribly slow and frustrating, and I just give up eventually.
