I personally never played KeyQuest, so I don't really mind that it's gone, but I don't think it's unreasonable for people to be slightly annoyed with JS, and not because they don't like change, but because after four years JS still seems like they're new to it, while they really should have some things figured out by now. Or, at the very least, communicate things better. There's not liking change*, and there's realising things changed because they're not working as well as they used to. (That last part applies to me; I didn't really know JS had taken over Neopets, until things started changing around the site, and not necessarily for the better.) As a software engineer, I'm well aware that it takes some (or even a lot) of time to get to know your way around someone else's code, but they could've chosen not to lay off almost everyone who used to work there. And again, it's been four years since they took over.
But the point I actually wanted to make, before I googled Jumpstart to see how long they'd been running Neopets and got slightly distracted, was this: people who are complaining, are people who still care. They still have hope the site will improve. (People who no longer care/think the game is doomed, will just leave.) It may seem negative sometimes, but (most) people are only complaining in the hopes it'll make things better. :)
 
* There's a chance there really are some (or a lot) of people out there who actually don't like change, because they (well, we) grew up with the game. It's easy to become emotionally invested/attached to things that you've known and loved throughout your childhood & teenage years, and to be upset when they change (especially if it's not necessarily a positive change). I've literally had my account for half my life (in a couple of months my account will be older than I was when I made it), and if I'd been more active on it during high school, I think I could easily have become the kind of person who'd have hated even the thought of JS taking over the game.

I've heard about people sending in tickets to verify the legitimacy of certain UC pets as well (in case Pound Chat isn't able to help).
I personally stay away from UCs not only because of this issue, but because owning UCs is said to make hackers target your account. So if you ever get one, take extra caution with your account by regularly changing passwords, setting a PIN, etc (well, that's usually a good idea regardless of UCs, but even more important if you have them).

I love Gorillaz! I liked Clint Eastwood when it came out and then liked Feel Good Inc when it played on the radio. I didn't really "dive" into the band until Plastic Beach came out. I had just made a new friend and he played it for me, and I was like, "oh, this is Gorillaz? I never really payed attention to them. This is great!" I fell in love with them and did a whole lot of reading about the characters as well as watching all the old music videos and playing the games on the flash site. I was sad when they "quit" and abandoned the PB plot but I'm so glad they're back! I love the Humanz albums soooo much, I do wish Damon had more vocals on it but I think it's a great, fresh album with a lot of good songs from artists I wouldn't have known about without them being guests.

I love 2D and Noodle, cuz 2D is a huge goof and Noodle is super awesome and cool. Murdoc is awful, lol. Russell doesn't get enough love.

Yep!  Any pet can fight   There are some good guides out there for beginner battledome sets as well!  The challengers I fought with were donny, the kreludan defender robot, the koi warrior, and finally the giant spectral mutant walien, in that order!  They all give more codestones, with the water arena giving out the most.  Good luck!

What Mouseykins said. I know some rich players like to donate things, which is very generous of them. Sometimes it makes a person's week to receive such a gift. It feels great to give, too. But on the other hand, one of the good things about playing Neopets is that it promotes saving over time for something you really want. You will have the satisfaction of earning it yourself, which makes it feel special. Other ways to gain valuables and Neopoints: the more pages you visit (or refresh) the more chances of getting random events that are usually positive more often than negative. And as a new player many years ago, I won a valuable paint brush on the Fruit Machine. A good surprise will happen to you too eventually. Meanwhile, enjoy the games and special events. And what I still enjoy best about Neopets is just looking at all the cute designs of everything. That's worth more than anything else to me. 
P.S.: If someone ever does give you a paint brush, be grateful. But I'll bet earning your own NP for another pet will make that one seem unique to you.

I watched it before all this hoohar so I wasn't looking for sexiness, but I thought her butt-shaking was adorable. The thing is, some adults see many innocent things as sexual simply because they're adults and sexually active themselves, so it colours their opinions.
Noodle's mid-teens, isn't she? But when Dare came out she was portrayed as 13 maybe, or even 10 still? (info from Wikipedia, I know zip about Gorillaz, lol) She's hella precocious, but she's not sexual in that video, she's just dancing and silly adults are interpreting that as some hoochie-cooch grinding.
