Don't submit low scores for Yooyuball's the only helpful thing I can think of. Like if you draw with the opposing team, or only score a few more than them - maybe 5-2, or 7-4 - don't submit because that impacts on the team's ranking, or something . . . Actually my M.O. on previous years was to just refresh the page and start again if the opposite team scored more than 2. This also happens as soon as a Darigan Yooyu puts in an appearance if it's not near the end of the game, because I've got ZERO chance of scoring with those devils. ?

I played a couple of games of YYB after signing up and . . . well . . . I enjoyed them. ? I scored decently, too: 8-2 and 10-0. Once I lose control of the ball I've still had it, but it seems I'm no worse than last year, so I feel pretty positive about this event now. :D

This is my first time participating and I did a few test matches, I must say this looks really enjoyable. So when the actual competition begins you can just refresh your browser if youre not satisfied with the score?

  3. I have been active in this forum for arround 2 months now (close to 3), and i have been thinking several times: what are reputation points and what do they do? I assumed the more active you are the more points you will get. I have 1 point. I don't know what those points indicate or how to get them, so i deceided to make a post about it. Have a nice day ?

I tend to like the apples with faces best, like the haunted, undead, vampire or villainous apple. I do quite like the imposter apple too just bc I think it's clever and cute.

my favorite is propably the villainous apple

  5. I was wondering how many different answers I will get on this post. My question is very simple: What is your routine when you log in for the first time that day? My routine usually is: first dailies, after that the wheels, games and than check some shops. And if i still got some time ill just do whatever i feel like that day. How about you guys?

If you are getting back in the game and trying to earn NP, you may want to sell the more valuable books. I like to keep those since they disappear if read. (The titles and descriptions are sometimes clever and make me laugh ). Another quick way (which is free) to gain intelligence points is the Faerie Crossword Puzzle. They have the answers posted on the forum every day. You get more points if you do it faster so consider looking over the answers first. :graduated:

I didn't even know that was a thing. I should propably try that, thank you.

This is what's nice about TDN. So many people have offered you excellent advice. It's really hard to build on what has been suggested to you. I will say that a staple for a newer battler, should be the item, Downsize! https://items.thedailyneopets.com/items/downsize

Avoid Downsize Power Plus, as it is one use and then it's gone for good. The item, simply spelled Downsize! with the (!) at the end, works ONCE PER BATTLE, and when used it blocks a whopping 50% of damage for that 1 turn.

If you could post your current battle set and any faerie abilities you have, perhaps we can give more tailored advice? Other info that would be useful includes; Pet species and stats, what kind of budget are you looking at to spend, and lastly, is there a specific 1p opponent you'd like to defeat?

Depending on these factors, it should be fairly easy to figure out some good items and upgrades for you.

Training is definitely important! I find it more useful than buying super expensive weapons. While you're training, finding a balance between training and equipment is a good idea. Weak weapons will get stronger as your train, but it can take a long time training from one boost to the next. Boosts are multipliers. The number of Icons a weapon does, is multiplied by your boost-level, to create your Maximum damage. This number will not go higher, and will go DOWN depending on how the opponent defends itself. If you can freeze your opponent, then the maximum damage will be inflicted. Freezing items are great, but expensive! This link shows the boosts, at what stat they are activated, and what boost-multiplier is.
    http://www.thedailyneopets.com/battledome/strength-defense-boosts/
Presently, the limit is at 750 Strength and Defense, multiplier of 16. So a weapon that only has 1-icon, will do 16 damage at most.

    Regarding less-useful stats.

Agility, is mostly worthless to train, only  a couple of weapons use this stat. If you get to 201 agility, you can use the, imho only item that is worth training agility for. The Heavy Robe of Thievery. It steals 1 random item from your opponent for the duration of that battle. However, stealing is currently NOT working.

Intelligence, there are a few pieces of equipment that require INT, mainly equipment from Brightvale. Off the top of my head, the Heavy Blue Tunic, if I recall correctly, requires 1000 INT to work properly. I think that's the highest INT requiring item.

Also, training Endurance/HP is fine, but I do recommend keeping it trained at 2x your level, like your Strength and Defense stats. At least until you get your Strength and Defense to 750. Because HP can be trained to 3x your Level. But if you do that, THEN YOU HAVE to train Level BEFORE you can train your other stats. Since other stats can only be trained to 2x your level, the level must be raised until the HP is 2x the Level.

I try to keep my stats pretty balanced, even though I've long since exceeded the limit, I could increase my HP now, but I'm used to the balanced way of training. LOL

    I hope this helps. :)

Wow this is a big page of information. Thanks a ton for this, you took litteraly like 10 or more minutes to help me, I greatly appreciate that. And yes, this is super usefull thanks a ton :).

  8. I recently started playing again and noticed I never used the books/intelligence feuture in neopets. I got a few questions about it. What happens if i read my pets books? What happens if my intelligence stat goes up? How many different levels of intelligence are there? I know a book disappears after reading it but can i read my neopet the same book twice or won't that work? And just a general explanation would be very nice. I hope you all have a great day and thanks in advance :).

There is a good guide here that might help you pick the weapon you like, depending on the amount of NP you have you can pick a beginner weapon or get more expensive weapons that might be of good use for a longer time. As you train the weapons will do more damage too.

    http://www.thedailyneopets.com/battledome/basic-battledome-weapon-sets

For some more explanation about the boosts, check this page: http://www.thedailyneopets.com/battledome/strength-defense-boosts/

Personally, I keep a healer item and a bomb item in my set at all times and I have 2 main heavy damage weapons. At the moment I have a few weapons that were given out as prizes in the plot. For the defense weapons I just have a variety depending on what kind of icons the opponent does. I switch those when I'm about to fight a strong opponent.

Also, don't forget to train abilities as you level up. The lens flare at level 50 is a great help!

Ah i see, seems like this is just going to take time more then anything since both my neopets are lvl 1 haha. thanks, you are a great help.

Start with the Swashbuckling Academy.  It requires dubloons, which aren't very expensive to buy using the shop wizard.  The cost in dubloons goes up in tiers based on what level your pet is at.  So, train as much on defense, strength, and endurance (you can skip training speed) as you can before moving up a level.  You can only have twice as many points in any one attribute as your level, so really you're going to be training 2 on strength, 2 on defense, 2 on HP and then 1 on level.

You can get dubloons randomly from Coltzan's shrine and other dailies, but they're easy to find in the shop wizard, too.

The Academy only goes to level 40.  After that, you have to use the Mystery Island Training school and courses cost codestones, which are expensive.  It still makes sense to train up the defense, strength, and endurance twice for each level at the Academy, it's just that the process costs much more np.

The good news, codestone-wise, is that you can earn them by fighting in the battledome.  The bad news is that there are 7 (I think) different types of codestones and you almost never win the exact right one from the battledome that you need to train.  So, you have to buy most of them (with the shop wizard).

Thanks for this very datailed explanation, any tips on weapons in the battledome? There are multiple types of weapons/magic etc. no clue what is best for beginners.

  11. I recently started playing again and I never really used the battledome feuture, I have no clue how i have to get stronger (i know there are a couple of places to train for dubloons and other stuff). I'm talking about what weapons are good to start with (I currently have 2 neopets, both are level 1). I don't know how to obtain the items needed to train except the shop wizard. And even if I had them, what that's are most beneficial for battle? How and where can I get good quality weapons for a cheap price? I can currently only battle the Clown on the most easy mode and that's still a 75-25% chance of winning. I really am clueless haha. Well thanks in advance for the people who read and commented on this post.

Lakecat, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't give up on the fruit machine!  Even if you have to mix up some potions to clear JUST that haze!  I too had only gotten 2 paint brushes in the past 10 years of playing NPs, well, really only like 4 or 5 of seriously playing, but I have gotten 2 PBs in the past month from the fruit machine!  I got a skritchy sketch PB which I posted on the dailies forum and I just got a water PB the other day!  So if you are going to give up on any daily, DON'T give up on that one.  The chance of getting PBs is VERY real. You just have play it every day, and be PATIENT.  LOL

Maybe I can answer this question for you.  There are a couple of "benefits" of having neofriends.  1 benefit is that, when they are online, their avatar and name is in the bottom left corner of your screen.  IDK (I don't know) about others, but it makes me feel less lonely.  LOL.  Like they are almost sitting there next me.  I can neomail them and they usually respond right away.  Which gets me to the next benefit.  If you click on "My Account" at the top of the page, then scroll down to "neofriends" it will bring up a list of all of your neofriends.  You can put a check mark next to up 50 friends you want to be your VIP friends.  That means that when you send them items or neomails, you can select their name from a drop down rather than having to type it.  You can set up auctions that are for Neofriends only.  That way, if your friend wanted something that was too expensive for the TP or your shop, you can put it up for auction without worrying that some random user will buy it.  (Any of your friends can buy it though, so hopefully if they did, they are kind enough to return it- LOL). Finally, if you go to the preferences page, you can block everyone from sending you neomails except for your neofriends.  So that way you won't get neomail from people you don't know, only your friends.  Those are some benefits I can think of right off the top of my head.

First off, thanks for taking the time to give me this detailed explanation. I really appreciate that. And yeah it sounds like having some neofriends can be usefull, I tried progressing the fairy plot but I am currently stuck. I just cleared the haze at the Giant omelet and Giant jelly. I am following the guide and it tells me to do mystic murmors again, however it's glitched at me and stuck (it wont do anything no matter what i press). Also if you would like a new NeoFriend my Ign is umaxii, i hope you have a nice day and thanks again.

Welcome to you! I'm not sure if it's the kind of thing that interests you, but there is a really great guild out there dedicated to exactly that - helping others and just being part of a community... It is called The Kindness Project. If you're ever in the market for a guild you should check us out :)

Back when i played i never really did anything with the whole guild system. It sounds fun the way that you put it. I will look a bit more into it and possibly will be interested :)

UMaxii, welcome back to Neopets. I hope you have fun again...You're not the only person who doesn't appreciate the purple haze:thumbsdown: I chose not to get involved with this whole Wraith thing which started MONTHS ago because I'm trying to get some other work done. I had no idea that it would last this long and even involve non-players like me. I guess I missed the forum post that talked about using IE to deal with the haze. I'm using Chrome for Neopets and just clicking off the boxes. Tedious. It also slows down the Fruit Machine, so most days I just skip that. I'm wondering how much I might have lost not spinning it as often that all these weeks. That's one of the few dailies capable of giving out a paint brush, which happened to me twice over the years.

Thank you, i use firefox as a browser and the fruit machine takes over 10 minutes to finish instead of 10 seconds. I must say im enjoying the game, maybe even more than I did before, I don't have any painbrushes, but who knows maybe i will get lucky haha.

I think so. When you complete it, you can get 5K NP, a trophy for your lookup, a plushie, a book, two other items, and the Lenny - Finneus avatar! Prize link, here: http://thedailyneopets.com/altador-plot/prizes/

Oh, I almost forgot! You can go back, everyday, and get a free prize from King Altador himself! Sure, most (all?) of the prizes are "junk" items, but, you can always "squirrel" them away into your SDB (Safety Deposit Box) for the next Charity Corner.

Some parts can be frustrating, but, overall, with the guides, it is not too bad. Plus, there are plenty of TDN topics on certain parts, to help, and if you get stuck, you can always post on those. Someone will try to help. I had fun doing it.

Yeah i did like 8 parts of the walkthrough yesterday and you're right, it is fun. Im totally gonna finish it soon, thank you.

It's short for Internet Explorer. :)

(This plot has had people switching between browsers - as many things don't work in Firefox, for instance - but apparently things not working in Internet Explorer is a good thing in this case.)

    Ah i see, thank you.
