The atmosphere in Altador's Colosseum is only getting more intense as the matches heat up in this year's Altador Cup, and there was absolutely no question that yesterday's results were nothing short of scorching. Our on-field reporter, Kyle, has the details.

"-thing working? Okay, Noog here... oh, and umm yeah there were these teams, I think they did good, Pirates and Desert Marauders... mmhmm..."

Whoops! My apologies, that was the wrong frequency. Kyle, over to you.

<img src="http://thedailyneopets.com/uploads/games/sz/yooyu_clockwork.jpg" style="float:left;margin:5px;">"I’m here in the Virtupets space station where fans are going berserk over the results. Virtupets is ecstatic over the win over Kreludor, and are still undefeated in Yooyuball. I’m here with the owner of Grundos Cafe, who is currently selling everything at a 50% discount. “Good evening, Kyle. Sure I’m losing money on this sale, but who cares! Virtupets has proved to be one of the best teams in this year’s cup so far, SLOTH FOR THE WIN!!” Well, the Recreation deck is filling up quickly, so I’ll let you go, Thank you!

<img src="https://images.neopets.com/altador/altadorcup/head_shots/lostdesert_4.gif" style="float:right;margin:5px;">In another match, the Lost Desert proved their up and coming dominance with a clear victory over the Pirates in almost every match (the exception was Shootout Showdown, where they drew). The win boosted the Mummies to first place in the standings, and cleared up almost all remaining doubts about their worthiness as major cup contenders.

On a side note, the next match took place between Maraqua and Terror Mountain. A question arose about Maraqua’s power, referring back to previous results this year. The Mermaids have yet to show their “piranha mode”. The Maqs received the win in the main game, Yooyuball, and Make Some Noise, while the Chillers managed to snatch the win in Shootout Showdown, unsurprisingly. There were far too many slushies being slung for anyone to see who the clear victor was, so the judges called it a draw.

The next match took place between Darigan and Meridell. The Citadel snagged a win against the unsuspecting Knights in Yooyuball, Make Some Noise and Shootout Showdown. Meridell managed to stop a complete sweep by Slinging Slushies as hard as they could.

The match between the first Altador Cup winner and the third was a heated battle, with Roo Island eventually overcoming the zombies. The main game, Yooyuball, ended up in a tie, however all three side games went to the Roos. It seems Haunted Woods continues to plummet down the rankings. However, the cup is still early, and anything can happen.

Shenkuu finally managed to latch onto a win for themselves, overcoming Moltara in Yooyuball, Make Some Noise and Shootout Showdown. I can see Moltara becoming quite good Slushie Slingers in the matches to come, however when bumping into a Shenkuu fan, he had this to say: “We practiced too hard perfecting the new ninjitsu that all our chakra was depleted.. we needed time to recover since we don't have special monsters sealed inside us. Now that we've regained our chakras we can use our new ninjitsus!”

Kiko Lake unsurprisingly took the win in Yooyuball against the Tyrannian Fossils, but the minigame madmen took all three side games.

There were two sweeps today, which were Mystery Island over Faerieland, boosting Mystery Island and giving them a chance to redeem themselves, and the cup underdogs Brightvale over the hosts Altador."

Thank you Kyle!

<img src="https://images.neopets.com/altador/altadorcup/head_shots/faerieland_1.gif" style="float:right;margin:5px;">Moving on to the next day's schedule, it seems we're in for a slightly less epic day. Team Altador will battle it out with the Faeries, in a match between two underdogs with a lot to prove, and not much time to prove it. The same could be said of the Kiko Lakers, who'll be duelling with the Knights from Meridell to try and establish themselves as serious middle-tier contenders. There'll also be a bit of an unofficial Shootout Showdown championship match between the Terror Mountain Chillers (rolling in with a perfect Shootout Showdown streak) and Team Virtupets (coming from their victory the formidable Team Kreludor, and the current champions of the side game).

Well, that's all for today. Thanks for reading, and best of luck! This is AA, reporting from the Colosseum, signing off.</p>

Haunted Woods, my team, has had the hardest schedule so far, so i don't think any final judgements can be made on them yet.

This is the Altador Cup - nothing's final until the finals! :P

I'm gonna remember how afraid I was at 5 minutes to midnight last night. I was lurking at the MD board and all the sudden they had all their hoarders come and virtually doubled their score in YYB. I almost cried then... xD

I'm more suprised we lst SS though. We had about 300k in it and they had less than 100k I beleive... o.o

Plus our spanish and sme other countries DC board were also doing great in SS... ohmy.gif

Oh and, I TOLD YOU SO! To everyone who said SK would sweep. wink2.gif

My predictions:

AL won't sweep, but they'll win, unless of course FL really rallies and atleast pulls the draw from YYB, then SS will win it for 'em. :)

DC will win against MI but it's gonna be a close match. I think we'll win YYB, if not then MI will win. We can't even afford a draw here.

MD is going to DESTROY them today. You should've seen them! They only showed disappointment for a second then immediatley went to playing. They got really mad and I don't think there's a chance for KL except in maybe a minigame or two...

Oh and I see a possible VP sweep but I imagine TM will take a side game...

CS, you forgot to mention the sweep MQ will have against Moltara :P. Just kidding. MQ won't sweep, because I'm sure Moltara will at least draw in one of the side games.

I think that our predictions over on the daily predictions page is pretty spot on. I kinda hope that we get a big upset though :)

Actually, I'm loving that name. No offense to mummies, but I don't think they're all that durable playing a sport like this. Seriously, whatever they put in the Krawk Island computer was angry cuz I was being tackled constantly.

Must not become overconfident...Brightvale's definitely had some good showing.

I would love for MQ to make a big sweep. But I would even love a huge upset against us. I dont really care; I just like to see the upsets! ;)
