And we’re back, after a short two day hiatus, to bring you the newest results fresh from the Altador Cup!

Today’s match between Krawk Island and Kreludor was no less exciting than yesterday’s match, however the Krawks pulled out ahead in Yooyuball, putting them in the running for winning a second Altador Cup. Both days they were able to take Yooyuball and Shootout Showdown from the Moon, but Kreludor hung onto Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise. Kreludor will now fight it out with Maraqua to attempt to gain a spot in the top three.

Captain Garven Hale of Krawk Island said, “I am confident we can do it, there is no other team out there that could pull it off - that’s why we’ve gotten into the top four five of the six years here. No other team has done that.”

Maraqua’s hopes for the gold were dashed in today’s near sweep by the Virtupets Robots. Maraqua was only able to hang onto Shootout Showdown in the two days against the Robots, but they remain hopeful for third. Virtupets, which has done steadily better since the first Altador Cup, remains a strong contender for the gold.

Terror Mountain was favored after the first day when they took Yooyuball from Meridell even though they were sideswiped. However today Meridell was able to dominate in everything but Make Some Noise, giving them the advantage needed to try and get fifth place.

On day one of the finals, Tyrannia nearly swept the Minions, only allowing them a win in Make Some Noise, however the Minions came back strong, taking Yooyuball as well as Make Some Noise on day two. Despite their impressive comeback, it wasn’t enough to take a win against Tyrannia, and so they were left to settle with Terror Mountain for seventh.

On to the third bracket, the Haunted Woods have been up against Shenkuu the past two days and didn’t fare too well either. Only being able to take a win in Make Some Noise both days, the former champs from Altador Cup I are left to try and get eleventh place. The Ninjas are going up against Roo Island for the last two days and they have promised not to hide the Yooyu from the Roos when they disappear from sight.

The Rooligans were able to pull off two near sweeps against Brightvale, only letting them take Slushie Slinger, the Roos' weak point. Brightvale will have to prevail against the Haunted Woods, against whom they have had unpredictable results. In the first Round Robin, the Zombies swept them, but in the second, they side-swept the Zombies.

The Mummies were able to prevail against the Faeries, sweeping the weaker team both days. While both teams are happy to be out of the consolation bracket, the Lost Desert has fallen far from its former top spot, hoping for thirteenth. One Lost Desert fan was not happy to be facing Mystery Island the last two days, worried that the wild card team would overtake them easily.

Mystery Island was able to pull of a sweep of the Lakers on the second day, taking back Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise. The Lakers had won those two games on the first day but couldn’t keep up the momentum for both days. Even if they had, it wouldn’t have made much of a difference in the standings for the tier.

Teylor Nix, forward for Mystery Island, said about the upcoming game against the Lost Desert, “We’re not too happy to be facing them either. They’ve proven to pull some weight and could win if we don’t work our hardest. No slacking off today.”

So far Altador has still yet to win or draw a single Yooyuball match. Though still in the consolation bracket, it looks like Moltara might be able to finish in 17th place this year. However, Altador was able to gain ground from day one to day two so they may see a win in Shootout Showdown and Yooyuball yet!

The next two days are going to keep us all on the edge of our seats - and not only to see who is going to take the gold home. Every tier has two strong contenders for the top rank in the bracket, and another two for the bracket's third spot. Stay tuned for next time. This is Lydia, for The Daily Neopets, signing off.

Great job, every team! Wonderful write up, Lydia ^_^

Guess I'll just copy what I wrote in my thread on the Neoboards...

Virtupets - I can't even begin to say how happy I am to see you guys up there gunning for first place. Gold or Silver trophy, a quiet, respectful, and hardworking team like yourself deserve every right to be up there. Best of luck in the next two days. To make history, you must do historic things, I believe it's possible for you, VP.

Krawk Island - And speaking of history.. could it be, the first team to do double championships? What you have right now is consistency, and that is something that is so admirable. Doubters, haters, predictions against you.. All of that ammo, you pushed aside, and now you are here. Congratulations, and best of luck in your quest for that second Gold.

Kreludor - It's not the parts that make the team, but what's on the inside that matters. Whatever the haters say about SOTAC, what matters is now. You get that beautiful bronze trophy, or the stinky, junky participation medal that I've been kind enough to have for the past 4 years. Know what matters. 3rd place is something not to be ashamed of!

Maraqua - You've been fighting your way slowly, knawing away at the standings, and you haven't forgotten the difficulties and the success that has brought you into the first tier. Never forget it. Never, ever forget your abilities. The Bronze is right there in front of you. Destiny is in your hands. Grasp it.

Tyrannia - Forget what the doubters and predictions say. You are a finals team that is capable of doing great things. You are an all games team, and when organized, can strike down any power house. You showed us what you can do in the first round robin, now let's see you claim 5th.

Meridell - You did it. You proved you can win in the finals. But don't get ahead of yourself, you still have two days ahead of you! While the first tier may have been your goal this year, you cannot go back a week ago, and change your results. What you can do is make the best of your opportunities. 5th place is right there. I think you want it, so get it!

Terror Mountain - Do I need to say more about my beloved team? We have come from carpet cleaner to penthouse team. Clear your mind. The haters, the doubters, the predictions against you will not claim 7th place. It will be your hard work, your determination, and your hunger to win that will do that for you. Believe in yourself.

Darigan Citadel - The glass is not half empty! What you have done this year is impressive. Never downplay that. Every day of the Altador Cup, is a day that you have to prove yourself against others. There will always be those who oppose and despise you, but forget about them, because if you pull victory out of your hat in the next two days, it'll all just be useless chatter.

Shenkuu - Do you remember earlier in the tournament when other teams would look gleefully at how far your team had fallen? Well guess what. Their mouths are closed shut because you are going to finish much better than you did last year. Now ask yourself, will you be the champion of Tier 3, or simply the 10th place victim? I think you know what you want to achieve!

Roo Island - While your side games may have been your downfall, they don't matter in the finals. Your YYB expertise is something that is exquisite, and an ability that many teams are jealous of. Never lose faith in your abilities. Tier 3 may not be Tier 1, but winning a tier always remains as winning a tier.

Haunted Woods - I know it's difficult. I know how it feels to have victory in your hands, only for fate to whack it away. I've been down that path before. But never forget what your goals are. 11th may not be the 9th that you wanted, but it's still an improvement from last year. And don't kid yourself, your team is meant for better things. But to win, it takes small steps. Take those steps!

Brightvale - You've been through alot. Getting cut from the Altador Cup, to having mediocre performances. But right now, this is not a mediocre performance. If you lose, you'll match your best results in the AC. If you win, this is the best you've ever done. Never forget what you're playing for, aspire to be the best you can be. Use that knowledge, Green and Gold!

Lost Desert - Hey. Take that Winner's Curse and chuck it out the window. Others may laugh at you, but remember, you've won the AC before, and 13 other teams haven't. You know how it feels to win. So use it! The Champion of Tier 4 may not sound as illustrious as the champion of the Altador Cup, but it's still winning. And winning never gets old.

Mystery Island - While there may not seem to be a light at the end of the tunnel, know that inside you, there's a light that's beating every single second. Bertie is still on the Top Scorer's page, and you can improve on your place last year! While 13th may not seem better than 14th, it all starts somewhere. Just ask VP! So never, ever stop fighting, coconut friends!

Kiko Lake - You are a team that is full of surprises. And while the last two days may not have been in your favor, remember to be who you are. Unpredictable, flashy, stylish, and always, always, great sports. You will improve on last year if you are victorious in the next two days, and I know you want to. So go out there, and do it!

Faerieland - It's not the destination, it's the journey. And I know that you may be fighting for the same position as you have for the past 4 years, but remember what FLUFF stands for. You are fearless, and when the time comes, you will rise from the ashes like a phoenix, and move out of the fourth tier. But it's not going to happen if you give up. Keep fighting Faerieland!

Altador - It's not over until it's over. While your past two results may lead you to give up, never follow through with that. If I gave up when we lost 4 YYB matches in a row in RR2, would my team still be in the 2nd tier? You never know what's going to happen in the next two days, so keep fighting.. You have the heart, you have the courage, and I know you're better than 18th place.

Moltara - It's there. You can improve from last year, and while it may not be much, it is still improvement. Victory is within your grasp. So the choice is yours. Be victorious, or let victory slip through your hands.... Fight on Moltara!

Shenkuu. :]

I'm proud of ya. We're beating Roo Island. I just know it. The Rooligans don't stand a chance if we fight our hardest.

Never give up. Never surrender. and Never let people bring you down.

We have done it 3 times. We can do it again.

Even If It's not going to happen this year, It can happen next year.

SOTAC, Dream Team 2011.? I believe you would want to rejoin Shenkuu for next year's tournament.

Go for Gold! Go for the Cup! RAAAAAAWK ONN!

Good report Lydia! :D

How do you find the results for day 1 and day 2?

The most convenient place to find results listings for the Altador Cup (at least for reporters) is here. ;)

Well, I saw the standings and I was wondering! How foolish of me! AC is rooting into my mind and I'm muttering words of the results at night!

Alright guys. This is it. The moment everyone's been waiting for this entire summer. On July 10th, 2011, we will see who comes victorious.

So let's finish this with one last hurrah!

Though I'll be cheering from the sidelines, I wish every single team the best of luck, and let's make these results one that we'll remember forever!

And Moltara. We will own Altador. We've done it twice, so now's the time to do double effort this time!evil.gif

Plus this is the third year in a row that we'll be improving on our position. AC IV we got 13th, last year we got 9th, and this year we're guaranteed at least 8th. We've become one of THE sidegaming powerhouses, leading most of the league in overall wins. If we can consolidate our sidegaming prowess with an improved YYB performance (our only real weak spot), there'll be no stopping us! This year is almost over, but next year, let's aim for the top! We've shown that we CAN find a spot in Tier 1, so let's make it permanent. :)

P.S. My Prytariel just broke 10,000 goals scored. :D

I love your post Blurrz! I really am proud of the teams this year. For some reason you can just tell this is the most fun anyone's ever had with this tournament. I wanna see some of the best competition there ever was these next two days. And with Mystery Island, I now for sure LD is going to have a great fight ahead of them.

Come on, Virtupets! :king: Krawk Island has already had a win, it's YOUR time. ^_^

I'll admit, I'm sad that Virtupets beat us, and now Maraqua has to battle to get a bronze trophy, but hey; all we gotta do is beat Kreludor, and we get a nice little trophy.

I want Virtupets to win! If they win..... WE MIGHT GET MORE TRANSMOGRIFICATION RANDOM EVENTS! :woot:

Well actually, when I was a newbie, I never knew of AC and so in AC 4, when the finals was taking place, I chose a random team and got Virtupets! If only I had played atleast one game, I would have got the avatar and a trophy too!

Just watch us win next year. :D, We're gonna be OWNING. All we gotta do is improve our YYB. If we can do that, sweeps will be so common for us.

bor krawk had suck little chance of beating virtupets after first day they wld have to sweep them, which is possible just isnt probable, virtupets couldve organised people to not even touch sidegames and put all effort into yyb and would be assured victory
