Pikky126 Posted July 12, 2015 Share Posted July 12, 2015 In the TDNForum guidlines one of the distinctions of a S.P.A.M. message is one that "bump(s) an irrelevant topic back up to the top." or one that is a "Duplicate topic" Now what if you want to say play a game that hasn't been active in four years? Which is better? To duplicate a thread topic? Or to bump an existing topic? Should you bump but in only certain circumstances? Should you duplicate if instead you need to Necrobump? From what I remember (from when I was staff), if a topic is over a year, year and half old, it's probably better to create your own thread. Otherwise, if you really have something to say that adds to the conversation, you can reply to the original thread. Spritzie Posted July 12, 2015 Share Posted July 12, 2015 If it's a game thread, there's no loss or gain of relevance, so you can go ahead and just revive it, instead of ending up with multiple threads for the same game. For all other threads, we look at it case-by-case, but the general rule of thumb is if the topic is still relevant, the topic can be posted on again and brought back to active posting. If the topic isn't relevant anymore, it will be locked if it's posted on again. If the topic is no longer relevant, like discussing a news event from years ago, there's no need for a new topic to be created either. If you are in doubt, contact a moderator, but generally, if the topic is relevant and the post being added adds to the discussion, post on the original topic, don't create a new one. This is for the same reason, there's no need for more than one board on a subject, even if one is old.
